SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND
the 4 c's…
Each diamond is unique and has specific qualities that determine its value, rarity and beauty.
The 4C’s is a universal method for assessing the quality of any diamond and allows you as a customer to be informed when making the decision. Although useful as a guide, there are so many permutations that it is best to seek professional advice. Mark is a qualified Gemologist and Diamond Grader who aims to bring total transparency when guiding you through all facets of purchasing this special stone.
We take great pride in only using the finest GIA-certified diamonds in both our personal work and the vast majority of our commissions when weighing over 0.3ct. Using triple excellent quality stones ranging from D-G in colour and FL-VS in clarity, our pursuit of absolute beauty is what defines us.
CUT
The meticulous skill of diamond cutting determines the stone’s brilliance and is arguably the most important factor. Far more than just the shape into which a rough diamond has been polished, the cut determines how well the facets reflect and refract light – giving fire and sparkle!
COLOUR
Each diamond is graded on its lack of colour; the lower the colour, the higher the grade. Colourless diamonds are the most desirable as they allow the refraction of light, whereas off-white diamonds absorb light inhibiting the dispersion.
CLARITY
Most contain some inclusions and blemishes that occur during the natural formation process. The size, nature, number and location of these flaws determine its clarity. Flawless diamonds are incredibly rare thus more highly prized and priced.
CARAT
This denotes the unit of weight by which a diamond is measured. One carat equals 1/5 of a gram and each carat is divided into a hundredth called points. There is a visible correlation between size and carat weight, with large diamonds being less common the price rises exponentially to its weight.
